Alpaca! If this wrap does not keep you warm, nothing will. Alpaca wool is rare, therefore expensive, but so worth it. Three times warmer and more resistant to water and wear than wool, a garment made with Alpaca will last a lifetime. Alpaca is silky soft, not prickly and since it is filled with tiny air pockets, very lightweight. Naturally waterproof, it is free of oil and lanolin, making it hypoallergenic, great for people with sensitive skin. Takes to dyes well, so the dyes used for color are less toxic than other bright dyes. And best of all, Alpaca DOES NOT PILL!
Warm and soft, this alpaca is blended with acrylic to make it really soft. This is a double-ply fabric, 2 layers, heavyweight but lightweight, a true yin/yang. Totally reversible, so you can wear the side that fits your mood or outfit.
The darker side (green background) is trimmed with hand-stitched chestnut-colored rawhide dotted with brass beads and closes at the waist with a fleurs brass hook and eye.
The lighter side (white background) is trimmed with hand-stitched dark olive green rawhide, silver, and brass conchos, with Jasper and Smokey Topaz beads.
Both the front and back of this wrap have buttons along the sides. When buttoned closed, "sleeves" are created to keep the fabric in check. Unbuttoned, the front pieces can be wrapped around each other, pulled to the back, fastened with a pin or belt, including the back part, or let the back piece drape forming a cape.
You can also wear the wrap as a shawl by wrapping the front pieces around your neck and draped across your front. Play around, have fun.
